The requirement for an export authorisation for personal protective equipment (PPE) was introduced by the European Commission through the publication of Implementing Regulation (EU) 2020/402 in view of supply shortfalls being experienced in the EU during the COVID-19 pandemic. This requirement applies to the products listed in Annex I to the Implementing Regulation.
