SensAbility Scheme (SENS)

Last Updated: Friday 24 July 2026

Overview

The SensAbility Scheme provides financial assistance of up to €6,000 to support the setting up of a sensory room for individuals with sensory challenges, such as autism or sensory overload. Eligibility requires tailored recommendations from an occupational therapist engaged by the applicant, outlining the set-up and equipment that best meet the individual’s needs. Applications may be submitted by the interested person’s relative or legal representative.

What you'll get

Under this scheme, the Housing Authority provides financial assistance based on the works recommended in the report prepared by an occupational therapist. Such works must be for the best benefit of the applicant or the person with sensory challenges. The assistance covers both the costs of purchasing sensory equipment and alterations to sensory rooms.
