What you'll get

A renewal or a temporary renewal of your ELT Permit to teach English as a Foreign Language in ELT Schools.
 

ELT Permit Renewal: 
The renewal of the ELT Permit will be valid for 4 years.
 

Temporary ELT Permit Renewal: 
The temporary renewal of the ELT Permit will be valid for 3 months. 
 

Eligibility

ELT Permit Renewal:
As per Legal Notice 221 of 2015, ELT Permits will only be renewed upon presentation of 32 hours of CPD, done over 4 consecutive years. All CPD hours must be approved and in line with ELT Council CPD Policy, which is available on our website. A minimum of 20 hours should be specifically in ELT Methodology and Language Awareness.
 

Temporary ELT Permit Renewal: 
Due to the current shortage of teachers in Malta’s ELT Sector, the ELT Council is accepting applications for Temporary Renewals. This will be issued upon presentation of at least 16 hours of CPD. All CPD hours must be approved and in line with ELT Council CPD Policy, which is available on our website.
 

Note: The ELT Council may use the information provided in this application to take any necessary action in pursuance of full compliance with Chapter 518 of the Laws of Malta.
 

How to apply

The applicant must fill the online application form for an ELT Permit Renewal or temporary ELT Permit Renewal together with a scanned copy of certificates as per above mentioned criteria and process the payment of the administrative fee.
