A scheme of financial assistance to individuals/organisations to rent premises in which to build floats or grotesque masks for the Gozo Regional Carnival 2025.

Overview

With the aim of continuing to strengthen Carnival in Gozo as a cultural activity that attracts an audience from Gozo, Malta and abroad, and therefore also gives an economic contribution to Gozo, the Ministry for Gozo and Planning is launching a scheme so as to assist individuals/organizations to rent a property that can be used to build floats or grotesque masks for the Gozo Regional Carnival 2025.

What you'll get

Each applicant can be granted up to a maximum of twenty-five thousand euros (€25,000.00) per year for renting a property that will be used for the construction of floats, and up to a maximum of ten thousand euros (€10,000.00) per year, for renting a property that will be used for the construction of grotesque masks.

Eligibility

Declaration that the construction of the floats or grotesque masks will be in accordance with the regulations for the Carnival, as issued by the Directorate for Cultural Heritage within the Ministry for Gozo and Planning; 
Declaration that the work that will be done in the premises will ONLY be related to the carnival;
Declaration that the rented place will not be used as a warehouse for items not related to the carnival;
Declaration by the owner of the premises that the building is available for rent. It is also a requirement that the property to be rented is in Gozo;
Copies of Planning Authority permits, including copies of the latest floor plans approved and printed by the Planning Authority;
Proof that the premises is fully compliant with the Health and Safety at Work Authority Laws and any other applicable regulations;
If the applicant is an NGO, proof that such NGO is fully compliant with the requirements of the Voluntary Organizations Act and its subsidiary legislation 492.01.

How to apply

The application can be made online on the website https://gozo.gov.mt/ or taken by hand to the Head Office of the Directorate, 11 Castle Hill, Victoria, Gozo.
 
Documents Required
 
i. Declaration by the owner of the premises that the building is available for rent;
ii. Copies of the Planning Authority's permits, including copies of the latest plans of the premises to be rented, approved and printed by the Planning Authority;
iii. Certificate from someone qualified that the premises is compliant with Health & Safety laws;
iv. Photograph of the interior of the premises to be rented; front view photo; street photo;
v. Declaration that the construction of the floats or the grotesque masks will be in accordance with the guidelines for the Carnival, as issued by the Directorate for Cultural Heritage within the Ministry for Gozo and Planning;
vi. A statement that work to be done in this premises will ONLY be related to the construction of floats or grotesque carnival masks;
vii. Declaration that the rented premises will not be used as a warehouse for items not related to the carnival;
viii. If an NGO, a certificate stating that such NGO is compliant.
