A new trade union has to be registered with the Registrar of Trade Unions, according to the Employment and Industrial Relations Act.

Eligibility
Anyone interested to form and register a trade union or an employers' association must satisfy the following conditions:
- Filled in form.
- Unique name.
- Statute must be in line with Article 50 of EIRA
- Union must have 7 or more members.
- Enrolment forms of at least 7 members.
