Emergency Accommodation Scheme for Gozitans stranded in Malta due to suspension of the Ferry Service

Overview

This scheme is for Gozitans who became stranded in Malta due to the suspension of the ferry service between Gozo and Malta caused by inclement weather, who had to spend the night/s in Malta can apply for this scheme.
 

 

What you'll get

The scheme provides reimbursement of accommodation costs, subject to a capping. 
The Ministry will determine whether to implement capping based on overall claim totals.

Eligibility

Applicants must satisfy all of the following:


1. Gozo Resident, confirmed by a valid Maltese ID card. 
2. Were stranded on the Island of Malta and could not return to Gozo due to the suspension of ferry services caused by bad weather. 
3. Incurred out-of-pocket accommodation expenses for a hotel, hostel, or licensed lodging establishment.
4. Provide official accommodation receipts as proof of payment.

This service can also be accessed through the myGozo mobile app which can be downloaded from the Play Store or App Store.


1. This application is not yet available and it may be activated in situations where access between Malta and Gozo is temporarily disrupted. Activation will depend on the nature and duration of the disruption, as well as the operational circumstances at the time. Further information regarding the service will be communicated as necessary.
