File a Remote Police Report

Last Updated: Wednesday 17 June 2026

Overview

This service lets you file a police report for non-emergency incidents that already happened without going to a police station. It begins with a booked callback through a simple online form (“Request a Callback”), where you choose your preferred contact method and a timeslot. A trained officer then contacts you to take your report remotely.

What you'll get

A scheduled callback via your chosen channel: WhatsApp, Google Meet, Apple FaceTime, Microsoft Teams, or regular voice call.

A live, guided interaction where the officer collects all details and may ask you to email photos/documents if needed.

Your report is compiled and entered into the National Police System, and you receive a Police Report Number and a digital copy.

If investigation is required, your case is referred to the relevant district/unit for follow-up.

Eligibility

Use this service only for non-emergencies—incidents not in progress and with no immediate threat to life or property. For emergencies or ongoing incidents, call 112 immediately.

How to apply

1.    Open the File a Remote Report page and select Request/Book Callback.

2.    Pick your preferred contact method and an available timeslot.

3.    Answer the officer’s questions during the call; email any extra documents/photos if requested.

Documents Required:

Have your Maltese identification card (ID Card) or residency permit, or your passport handy for identity verification during the call.

Any supporting evidence (e.g., photos, receipts, documents), if requested.
