Death notification, registration and recognition

Overview

A death occurring in Malta may be notified by the deceased’s relatives or anyone who is unrelated at the Malta Public Registry. Deaths occurring in Gozo must be notified at the Gozo Public Registry. No fee is charged for the notification of death. For more information click here

What you'll get

Once the death is notified and processed by the Public Registry, it will be registered and a death Act is produced. This is subject to the receipt of documentation from the Health and/or other authorities. A death certificate may be purchased.

How to apply

Visit the Public Registry offices in Marsa, Mater Dei Hospital, Imsida or in Victoria, Gozo. You may also notify a death by post by sending an email to [email protected] for Malta or [email protected] for Gozo or online by visiting Identità Malta’s website
