Non-Governmental and Voluntary Organisations

  • Annual Returns and Annual Accounts Form (Voluntary Organisation)

    By law (Subsidiary Legislation 492.01) every enrolled Voluntary Organisation is obliged to submit the Annual Returns and Annual Accounts by filling in the Annual Returns and Annual Accounts forms in accordance with Subsidiary Legislation 492.01).
  • Centre for Voluntary Organisations

    The Volunteer Centre serves primarily to foster and develop volunteerism in the community as a whole as well as support small and medium sized voluntary organisation in their operation. In general it will support 4 main areas: the promotion of volunteerism, capacity building for effective local volunteering, provide leadership on issues relating to volunteerism, support networking between Voluntary Organisations (VOs) and connect people, and serve as a base from which small and medium VOs can operate.

    In addition to housing the offices of the MCVS, the Volunteer Centre is aimed to support Voluntary Organisations (VO). This is done by providing both space and facilities from which such organisations can operate. There are presently 2 Volunteer Centres, 1 in the centre of the island (Valletta) and 1 in the north (Qawra).
  • Enrollment with the Commissioner for Voluntary Organisations

    Voluntary Organisations, in accordance to the Voluntary Organisations Act (Cap. 492 of the Laws of Malta) are required to enrol with the Commissioner for Voluntary Organisations.
  • Events Calendar for Voluntary Organisations

    An events calendar is provided to promote events and activities organised by voluntary organisations (VOs).
  • Small Initiatives Support Scheme 2023

    The SIS Scheme is designed to assist applicants looking for funding on small projects that can make a real difference to their local communities.
  • The Meeting Place

    The Meeting Place provides Non-Government Organisations (NGOs) working in the education, health and social sector with modern premises to hold meetings, annual general meetings, conferences, training and seminars.
  • Training Programme for Voluntary Organisations

    The Training Initiative Scheme (TIS) programme helps volunteers improve their skills to undertake the voluntary work skillfully, ethically and efficiently establishing a minimum competency that all volunteers are expected to obtain, raise the level of professionalism in the services and initiatives implemented by voluntary organisations (VOs) within the community, and raise awareness about VOs, their voluntary work and the voluntary sector in general.
  • Training Programme for Volunteers

  • Voluntary Organisations Projects Scheme (VOPS)

    The Voluntary Organisations Project Scheme is an initiative supporting projects that fall under the following objectives:
    • To stimulate co-operation and networking between voluntary organisations.
    • To provide a consultative forum that can effectively address issues related to the Voluntary Sector.
    • To provide a platform from which to develop co-operation between voluntary organisations and the Government.
    • To promote and encourage a culture of volunteering and the participation in volunteer activities.
    • To foster co-operation in the volunteer sector.
    The Call for Applications for 2017 shall open annually every October.
  • Young Achievers Campaign Against Drugs (YACD) Scheme

    The funding scheme is aimed towards voluntary organisations with the aim to support the Government’s approach to promote community-based interventions and to prevent the onset of substance abuse and addictions to said substances.

    Human Rights Directorate (HRD) will be given space on the premises legally administered by the Voluntary Organisation upon which a structure for promotional purposes will be installed on their property for duration of 12 months with an option to review the terms and conditions if a renewal is agreed upon between both parties.
