The Work Exposure Scheme (WES) offered by Jobsplus is a programme designed to support individuals seeking to improve their employability by gaining practical, hands-on work experience in a real workplace environment. The scheme is open to persons who have completed compulsory education and are of working age, up to 65 years old. Participants must also not be engaged in full-time studies or in full-time employment.
The duration of the scheme can either be 280 hours over a maximum period of 14 weeks or 200 hours over a maximum period of 10 weeks, depending on the occupation selected. In addition, trainees also receive a training allowance ranging from €5.54 to €7.50 per hour, depending on the occupation. This allowance is fully funded by Jobsplus, and individuals already receiving social benefits may continue to receive them while training.
Participants who complete at least 70% of the required hours are awarded a Certificate of Participation, helping them strengthen their CV and future job prospects.
All Employers (excluding entities falling under the public sector or service), can participate as Work Exposure Providers. They may either choose a trainee themselves or request Jobsplus’ assistance to match suitable candidates. Work Exposure Providers are required to maintain appropriate supervision, training, and health and safety standards, ensure trainees are covered by insurance, and record attendance.
Employers do not pay the trainee, as the training allowance is funded by Jobsplus. Placements should ideally relate to the provider’s economic activity or business operations, and the number of approved placements per provider is at Jobsplus’ discretion.
Through this scheme, employers can train potential future employees and evaluate their performance on assigned tasks, allowing them to assess suitability and consider retaining them as permanent employees at the end of the placement.
The Scheme is co-financed by the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) under the Training for Employment Project (ESF+.01.195), and aims to support skills development, career growth, and smoother entry into the labour market.
