  • Notification by Employers for the Removal of Asbestos

    A legal requirement falling within the scope of L.N. 323 of 2006. An employer has to notify OHSA where there exist high risks to workers from exposure to asbestos/asbestos containing material at the workplace and no work involving asbestos or of material containing asbestos may commence before OHSA is thus notified.
  • Notification by Employers of an Accident at the Workplace

    A legal requirement falling within the scope of L.N. 52 of 1986. The employer has to notify the Authority regarding an accident at the workplace within 10 working days.

    In terms of this Legal Notice, any accident arising out of or in connection with work which results either - (a) in the death of ore major injury to any person; or (b) in the case of an employee at work, in that employee being incapacitated for work for more than 3 consecutive days, excluding those days on which s/he is not expected to report for work; shall be a notifiable accident and as such shall be reported to OHSA. Also the employer shall notify of other injury which results in the person injured being detained in hospital for more than twenty-fours hours other than for observation.

    Where the notifiable accident results in the death or a major injury to a person, the employer shall -
    (i) notify forthwith OHSA by the quickest practicable means; and (ii) within 7 days from the date of the accidentsend written notice of the accident to OHSA.

  • Notification Form for the use of Group 2, 3, or 4 Biological Agent

    A legal requirement falling within the scope of LN 228 of 2003. An employer has to notify OHSA 30 days prior to the commencement of work involving the use for the first time of;

    - a group 2 biological agent,
    - a group 3 biological agent,
    - a group 4 biological agent,

    or for the first time of each subsequent group 4 biological agent and any subsequent new group 3 biological agent where the employer himself classifies that biological agent.
  • Occupational Disease Reporting

    Notification of occupational diseases to the occupational physician is a particularly important indicator for the targetting of occupational sectors by the Authority which require implementation of appropriate safety measures to prevent further occurrences of such diseases.
  • Principles of Risk Assessment Course

    It shall be the duty of every employer and of every self-employed person to carry out, or to ensure that is carried out, a suitable, sufficient and systematic assessment of all the occupational health and safety hazards which may be present at the place of work and the resultant risks involved concerning all aspects of the work activity. Such assessments shall consider the risks to the health and safety of workers and of self-employed persons to which they are exposed whilst at work, as well as the risks to the health and safety of other persons, including visitors to the place of work, which risks arise out of, or in connection with the work being carried out, or by the conduct of the undertaking.'
  • Qualified Expert Approval

    In accordance to regulations (Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection Regulations 2003, L.N. 44 of 2003) a person who wishes to act as Qualified Expert has to be approved by the Radiation Protection Board. This form acts as the 'application' form for such approval.
  • Qualified Expert Re-Approval

    The approval of Qualified Expert issued by the Radiation Protection Board is time limited for 3 years. This form acts as the 'application' form for such re-approval.
  • Radiation Protection Board (RPB) - General Notification Form

    This notification is required by all users of ionising radiation in accordance with Regulation 17 of LN44/2003. This form is for all users, except vets and dentists.
  • Radiation Protection Board (RPB) - Importing Agent Notification Form

    Any agent that intends to import radioisotopes on behalf of an authorised user needs to notify the RPB.
  • Radiation Protection Board (RPB) - Notification Form (Dental Clinics)

    This notification is required by all users of ionising radiation in accordance with Regulation 17 of LN44/2003. This form is for dental clinics.
